About the Student Grant Program

The PDL Student Grant Program aims to enhance the education and training of future pharmacists by providing funding to attend a recognised pharmacy conference in Australia. There are three grants available and each includes registration, accommodation, travel and meal costs.

Apply now for a 2026 PDL Student Grant, for the opportunity to attend a recognised pharmacy conference in Australia. There are three grants available at a value of up to $5,000AUD each.

Funding for the 2026 program will be provided to attend one of the following eligible events:

9-11 September 2026 | Sydney

AdPha Medicines Management

22-24 October 2026 | Brisbane

Pharmacy WA Forum

6-7 August 2026 | Perth

APSA Conference

6-9 December 2026 | Melbourne

APP27 Conference

18-20 March 2027 | Gold Coast

Grant inclusions

Each PDL Student Grant is designed to provide comprehensive support so recipients can fully engage in their chosen conference experience. The grant covers key expenses related to attendance and professional development, ensuring students can focus on learning, networking and contributing to the future of pharmacy.
Full delegate registration 
All-inclusive experience with enhanced networking and professional development opportunities.
Travel*
Travel costs, including but not limited to flights, public transport and rideshare are covered by the grant.
Accommodation*
Recipients can select accommodation of their choice, located near the conference venue for convenient access.
Meals
All meal costs are covered and grant recipients will be reimbursed upon conclusion of the conference.
Mentorship and professional guidance
Mentorship and advice from PDL’s Professional Officers, Board and/or Local Advisory Committee members (where relevant).
Complimentary membership for new pharmacists
Two years of complimentary PDL membership upon commencement of general registration as a pharmacist.
Promotional opportunities
Grant recipients may be featured in interviews or articles, boosting visibility in the profession.

*Terms and conditions apply to travel and accommodation expenses based on the location of event and location of the applicant, at PDL’s discretion.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a grant, you must:

  • be a currently enrolled student in a pharmacy program at a recognised Australian university. Undergraduate and postgraduate will be considered; and
  • be a current PDL member. If you’re not a member of PDL, you can join by completing an online registration. PDL membership is free for pharmacy students and intern pharmacists.

The grant recipients will be selected by the PDL Student Grants Committee from the eligible applications received.

How to apply

Eligible students can apply through the PDL Member Portal by submitting a resume, recommendation letter and proposed grant budget.

Your online application is to include:

  • Resume
  • Faculty staff member or manager letter of recommendation
  • Leave approved by the university (if required)
  • Proposed grant budget by category (i.e. event registration, travel, accommodation and meals)

PDL Student Grant FAQ's

Quick answers to common questions about PDL’s Student Grant Program

This will only appear if you have a PDL student membership. If you are a pharmacy student who is currently studying and you are unable to apply via the website, please email your application to grants@pdl.org.au.

Yes, first year pharmacy students are welcome and encouraged to apply.

No, the $5000 grant cannot be shared; it is awarded to a single recipient only.

Recipients do not receive a direct payment of $5,000. Instead, we cover all costs associated with attending the conference. This can be arranged in two ways:

  • We book on your behalf: All expenses are managed and paid directly by us.
  • You pay upfront and are reimbursed: If you prefer to make your own arrangements, we will reimburse you for eligible costs after the event.

This part of the application requires you to provide an estimated breakdown of costs associated with attending your conference of choice. This shows initiative and that appropriate research has been undertaken.

Please note: The total does not have to equal $5,000.

Yes, part-time pharmacy students are welcome and encouraged to apply.

No, it is free to apply for the PDL Student Grant Program, as long as you’re a PDL member. Membership is free for students and interns.

There are two options:

Yes, it is important that you retain all receipts and send us photos of these upon conclusion of the conference, so we can reimburse you appropriately.
