PDL is pleased to announce the opening of the 2023 Student Grant Program, with applications open until the end of August.
The grants program was established in 2020 to help Australian pharmacy students attend a conference or event of their choosing, to further their interest in the wider profession. The funds contribute to event registration, travel and accommodation expenses up to the value of $5,000 each.
With the firm return of events after ongoing COVID-19 disruptions, PDL CEO, David Brown, encourages pharmacy students to explore the wide range of options for events to attend, both in Australia and overseas.
“We have been able to sponsor students to attend a variety of events across Australia including the Australian Pharmacy Professionals Conference (APP), Medicines Management and the annual PSA event, as well as recently supporting one of our original winners to a conference in Portugal,” David said.
“The Grants program is another way PDL can contribute to the pharmacy profession, by enabling students to attend conferences and events where they can experience high quality education from world-renowned speakers and connect with inspiring leaders.”
2022 winner Sanam Fath Abadi recommends students apply for a grant because of the unique experiences they offer.
“Thanks to PDL’s Student Grant Program, I was able to explore my passion for hospital pharmacy at the SHPA Medicines Management Conference in Brisbane,” Sanam said.
“I got to network with many amazing hospital pharmacists, I developed new clinical skills from all the talks they were giving, and I even had the chance to present a poster on some research I had conducted that year.”
Current undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy students can submit an application for one of three grants via the PDL member portal. Applications close on 31 August 2023 at 11pm AEST.
