Due to the impending retirement of Curtis Ruhnau, expressions of interest are invited by PDL for the position of Director for New South Wales (with responsibility also for the Australian Capital Territory). A casual vacancy will exist from 1st July 2022 until the PDL Annual General Meeting in 2025.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Registered address in New South Wales or the Australian Capital Territory
- Financial PDL member
- Pharmacist with unrestricted general registration with AHPRA
- A sound understanding of the importance of corporate governance
- Must complete AICD course within 6 months if not already completed
- Commit to the PDL board protocols
- Abide by the Code of Conduct
It should be noted that most Board meetings are held in Melbourne.
While a sound understanding of the pharmacy profession is important and representing PDL at conferences within NSW and the ACT is expected, this is a company director role, with its prime function being oversight and governance of the organisation. Directors’ prime responsibilities are to identify PDL’s strategic direction and goals, and to supervise overall business performance, risk and regulatory compliance.
This involves governance responsibilities encompassing legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial aspects of the organisation. Candidates are reminded that these responsibilities, and the potential liabilities of Directors, are onerous and not to be taken lightly. All PDL Directors undertake the AICD Company Directors course and maintain their AICD membership credentials. This is required within six months of commencing the role.
